December 5 – December 6: The Nutcracker Ballet with the Fremont Symphony Orchestra.  Performances at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, Dec. 5 and at 2pm on Sunday, Dec. 6.

The complete ballet with scenery and costumes, choreographed by Yoko Young with Tchaikovsky’s unsurpassed music played by the Fremont Symphony.

After the matinee performance, children are invited to attend the Sugar Plum Party for special holiday treats and to have their pictures taken with the costumed dancers.

November 27 – December 27: San Jose Christmas in the Park. Located in downtown San Jose and open every day from 9am to 12am.  Admission is free – there are various holiday displays, daily live entertainment, and local groups decorate Christmas trees.

November 27 – December 31: 11th annual Fantasy of Lights at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos.  The whole park is decorated with lights and various holiday displays, and you drive through the park and view the displays from the comfort of your own car.  It’s kinda like a drive-in movie!  $10 admission (per car) through December 10, $15 thereafter.  $25 admission for cars with 10-25 guests.

Fantasy of Lights is the most spectacular family holiday tradition in the South Bay. Beginning Nov. 27, Vasona Lake County Park is transformed into a magical wonderland of thousands of twinkling lights and exciting animated displays, all set to your favorite holiday music and viewed from the warmth of your own car.

December 11 – December 20: Fairy Winterland at Children’s Fairyland in Oakland.  Open noon to 7pm.  Admission is $7 per person over 1 year of age.  Children’s Fairyland is decorated for the holidays (and yes, in the spirit of PC-ness, they decorate for all the winter holidays, as per their website).  Further, they’ll feature:

  • Performances by our renowned Storybook Puppet Theater
  • A Festival of Lights Parade each day at 6:30 p.m.
  • Special holiday storytelling, magic, and entertainment
  • A daily visit from Santa Claus
  • Holiday-themed arts and crafts
  • Unlimited rides
  • And many more special surprises!
