About East Bay Baby

What is this “East Bay” of which you speak?

The East Bay is a subset of the San Francisco Bay Area.  It is roughly comprised of Alameda County and Contra Costa County.  The East Bay is an incredibly diverse area, encompassing both the extremely urban and the practically rural, mountain and coastline, high crime and low crime, expensive and cheap.

Why East Bay Baby?

There is a perception that the Bay Area is expensive and child unfriendly.  In fact, there are almost infinite things to do with babies, toddlers, and kids in the East Bay, from exploring Tilden Park to taking a ferry to Angel Island to scoring great used kid’s clothes at Thrift Town.   And many of these things are free or cheap!  East Bay Baby aims to provide a guide to navigating life with kids in the East Bay Area, without spending (too much) money or losing your mind.

Who are our marvelous contributors?

Aletheia w/ MonkeyAletheia is a Bay Area native, who recently moved from San Francisco back to the East Bay.   She has a very active toddler and a pre-walking baby, making even the most mundane activities very challenging to coordinate .  She never tires of trying to find the cheapest and most efficient ways of providing new experiences for her baby bunch.

Karen and offspringKaren is a transplant to the East Bay.  Having grown up in the South Bay, the East Bay was full of mystique – and not the good kind.  However, now that she lives in the Tri-City area (Fremont-Union City-Newark), her South Bay prejudices are getting dispelled quickly.  With new baby in tow, Karen seeks new places and activities to keep herself and baby entertained.
